Winter has just about arrived for the year. When we think of winter, we might think that it’s a time of year when your lawn and all of its plants go into a dormant period. While this can be true for a lot of plants, there are some flowers that still bloom during this time. That means that, if you want to bring some extra life to your yard during the dormant season of winter, there are flowers you can choose to accomplish this. Here are some of the flowers you can plant that will bloom during the winter season.
Camellia
Camellias are well known for their beautiful blooms. When they bloom, they produce vibrant colors that really stand out around people’s yards. Some colors you can choose include pink, yellow, and white. Shrubs are able to grow quite tall, reaching heights of 10-13 feet, making them a strong focal point of your yard, especially during winter.
Christmas Roses
While this plant isn’t holiday-themed, as its name may suggest, it’s still a plant that’s relative to the winter season. Christmas roses tend to bloom during the later parts of winter, and sometimes into the early spring season.
These flowers are known for lasting a long time in your yard, and they bloom for over a month in many cases. You can get them in colors such as purple, pink, green, white, and red. Another perk these flowers have is that they’re low-maintenance, which is perfect since you won’t want to have to go outside in the winter cold to care for them.
Daffodils
Daffodils are another vibrant flower option you can plant in your yard this winter. When these flowers start blooming, it typically signals that winter’s coming to a close. This is because they tend to grow at the end of winter and the start of spring. They grow very quickly and are quite fragrant as well, which makes them perfect to plant in rock gardens and flower beds. Common colors for daffodils include yellow, orange, white, and pink.
