Tips for Keeping Your Outdoor Fountain Clean

Today, we’ll tell you what to do so your outdoor fountain can remain clean throughout the summer.

Summer is a beautiful time of the year. There are many types of flowers that bloom during this time, and the trees are green and alive. Something else that’s enjoyable about summer is the ability to show off any water features you may have around your yard. One feature some homeowners have is outdoor fountains. In order to enjoy these fountains to the fullest, it’s important to keep them clean. That’s why, today, we’ll tell you what to do so your outdoor fountain can remain clean throughout the summer.

Trim Any Nearby Greenery

Perhaps you have some trees or bushes in the nearby vicinity of your outdoor fountain. It’s important to trim these trees and bushes so that leaves and other foliage don’t fall into your fountain.

Check On Your Water Pump

Inspect your water pump from time to time, just to be sure that it’s still functioning properly. If you notice that your water pump is making unusual noises, or you have low water pressure, these are signs that the pump is not functioning as it should. In these situations, you want to get professional help to correct the problem.

Use a Fountain Cover During Inclement Weather

Sometimes, the weather will get rainy or windy, and this increases the likelihood that debris from nearby greenery will fall into the water of your outdoor fountain. To prevent this from happening, put a cover over your fountain. This will keep any unwanted debris from affecting it. Covers are also handy because they can be used to keep insects away as well.

Make Sure the Water Stays On

It’s important to keep the water for your outdoor fountain moving. When water isn’t moving, bugs will get attracted to your fountain. This is because the bugs will see your fountain as a suitable place to rest, making it more likely for them to stay there.

Not only is this a bother to handle, but there’s also the chance that non-moving water will allow algae to grow around your fountain, which is another unsightly problem you’ll have to address.
